THIS IS MNBS
Originating in Rothley (Leicestershire), MNBS was founded in 2004 by Mark Needham after spending almost 25 years as a manager involved (one way or another) with safety, health and welfare within various industries.
Mark set up the business because he realised that many workplace managers and business owners were frustrated by ever-changing health and safety legislation and not knowing where or who to turn to for help. Indeed, two close friends at the time ran their own companies and were greatly concerned about whether or not they were operating within the law. They were particularly worried about the growing 'compensation claims culture' and needed professional guidance in a language they understood. This was just the incentive Mark needed to get started.
Initially, Mark Needham Business Services consisted of two divisions - health & safety and employment law - but within its first year of operating Mark began concentrating on the former discipline when demand for this service grew.
In January 2007, the decision was taken to drop employment law from the company's list of services in order to specialise on workplace safety, health and environmental issues. Around the same time, the company name was fixed to its abbreviated format, and a new company logo - a simple, basic design to reflect MNBS's use of straightforward, understandable dialogue - adopted to reflect this change.
Respect for our clients
Trust and a deep respect for confidentiality is the basis of excellent relations with all MNBS clients past and present, who include small to medium size local businesses as well as UK-wide company groups, some household names amongst them.
Indeed, Mark still carries out work for many of his very first clients, testimony to this trusting and mutually loyal relationship.
An integral part of implementing any safe system of work successfully within the workplace is the provision of training supported by effective communication and information. Almost from day one, therefore, Mark embarked on a comprehensive national teacher training course where he successfully completed a programme qualifying him to teach in the workplace and at Further Education level. He attends various courses and sits examinations each year to ensure he remains competent i.e. having the specific training and experience, or knowledge, or other qualities, to enable him to carry out the work properly.
Mark became a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). He actively keeps himself informed of changes to health and safety legislation, as well as key related issues through:
- IOSH membership
- Attending HSE / Working Well Together events
- Subscribing to daily/weekly HSE, IFSEC and FPA e-bulletins
- Attending regular online Webinars
- Referencing the www.hse.gov.uk, www.parliament.uk and www.gov.uk websites
- Referencing the LinkedIn IOSH online forum
- On-going CPD training
A former University of Sheffield student, Mark is an Associate Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM).
He also holds various NEBOSH, IOSH, RoSPA and FPA qualifications, among others.
